In this edition of Instructional Inspirations we focus on creating quiz and text questions. The first two resources provide tips on writing questions and the third resource is a quiz writing program, Question Writer.

 

Designing Test questions

Has brief and informative description of uses, pros/cons of test questions, and tips for writing various test questions.

 

Writing multiple choice items to assess higher-order thinking

The authors stress that the best technique is to use your existing test questions and transform them into higher order questions.  Points to other resources which provide helpful examples.

 

Question Writer  

The basic version of this program, which is available for free, allows for the creation of multiple choice, Flash based quizzes. Quizzes are automatically graded and immediate feedback given to students. Scores can be tracked via email notification or by using Question Writer Tracker
